What is Coaching?Tennisplayerandcoach

We are all familiar with the coaches who assist athletes and teams to achieve peak performance.

In the same way a personal coach works with you to identify and reach your goals. A coach can help you to:

  • identify your aim(s) in life
  • set yourself effective goals
  • maintain good progress
  • stay focused
  • think through your ideas
  • work through blockages, difficulties and snags

Some of the areas we work with clients include:-

  • work/life balance
  • fitness and weight loss
  • leadership development
  • maximising productivity
  • relationships

Coaching is not counselling or psychotherapy although it does draw from elements of those fields. Coaching assists people who may not have a specific problem but like an athlete are seeking better outcomes and performance in one or more areas.

Your coach is not your trainer. Again a coach will draw on training and adult education techniques but your goals are developed not by them but by you! Your coach does not control your learning; you do!

Coaching allows you to work through five distinct areas:

  1. What are your aims in life?
  2. What have you achieved so far?
  3. What's preventing you in moving toward these aims?
  4. What actions are you taking to achieve your aims?
  5. How are you celebrating your successes?

"All successful people have a goal. No one can get anywhere unless he knows where he wants to go and what he wants to do or be"
