What is Coaching?
We are all familiar with the coaches who assist athletes and teams to achieve peak performance.
In the same way a personal coach works with you to identify and reach your goals. A coach can help you to:
- identify your aim(s) in life
- set yourself effective goals
- maintain good progress
- stay focused
- think through your ideas
- work through blockages, difficulties and snags
Some of the areas we work with clients include:-
- work/life balance
- fitness and weight loss
- leadership development
- maximising productivity
- relationships
Coaching is not counselling or psychotherapy although it does draw from elements of those fields. Coaching assists people who may not have a specific problem but like an athlete are seeking better outcomes and performance in one or more areas.
Your coach is not your trainer. Again a coach will draw on training and adult education techniques but your goals are developed not by them but by you! Your coach does not control your learning; you do!
Coaching allows you to work through five distinct areas:
- What are your aims in life?
- What have you achieved so far?
- What's preventing you in moving toward these aims?
- What actions are you taking to achieve your aims?
- How are you celebrating your successes?
